Kids can don their costumes on October 31st for Halloween at school. Remember that no "weapons" that are part of costumes are permitted. 

The long standing tradition of the "Thriller" dance will be held once again and a parade of costumes.

The White Spot Hot Lunch will also be held that day for those that have pre-ordered.

School is in session for teachers, but not for students on Friday October 25th 2019. These days are devoted to teacher professional development. The scheduling of Pro-D days does not mean a loss of instructional time for students as the time is made up on other days.

Tip: Did you know that each time an order is placed, transaction fees are paid from the PAC proceeds to the online payment system? Help reduce these fees by placing more than one order at the same time. 

Plan to attend the next Parent Advisory Council Meeting at 6:30pm in the School Library. Free child minding will be provided. ​All parent/caregivers with a child attending A.R. Lord elementary are part of the Parent Advisory Council - we look forward to your ideas, participation, and sharing in our school and community experience at A.R. Lord.

Tuesday after Thanksgiving weekend is individual student photo day. Here are some tips for the perfect portrait:

1. Help your child pick out clothes and colours that look good on them. Make them the star of the photo, not their shirt with loud graphics and logos. Small accessories are fine but nothing too big or distracting. 
2. Glasses are okay! The photographer knows all the tricks to reduce glare.​
3. Keep kids relaxed and ready to be themselves. A natural smile looks best. Don't try too hard. 
4. Don’t worry about “perfect”! That hair that always sticks up or a missing tooth shows your child just as they are right now—and you’ll enjoy looking back on that for years to come.
