The Dr. A.R. Lord Cross Country team is in full swing with morning practices held every Tuesday and Friday before school. This year there is a large contingent of students from Gr. 1-7 on the team and they are lead by coaches Ms. O'Neill and Ms. Burke. Last week the team competed in their first mini-meet where students had a chance to run with other nearby VSB elementary schools. Each grade level is a separate category and older students run longer distances than the younger ones. Come out and cheer on our Lord Lions at this week's Mini-Meet on Wednesday Oct 2nd 3:30pm -4:30pm at nearby Clinton Park.

On September 30th, Dr. A.R. Lord Elementary will be acknowledging Orange Shirt Day. It is the day when we honour the Indigenous children who were sent away to residential schools in Canada. Students will learn more about the history of those schools and this day is a symbolic call to action to Truth and Reconciliation. Engage with your child and discuss your thoughts and what Orange Shirt day means to you, what it means to our indigenous communities, and to Canada. |
