Coming Tuesday, March 9th from 7-8pm, join Merlyn Horton for an informative, engaging and useful look at parenting online today and some immediately accessible tools and techniques to manage our current challenges. Please see below for details: ***************************************************************************************************************** Mental Health and Wellness Tools for Children and Families during COVID This online workshop explores the impact of COVID on the mental health of children & families, & provides tools to support better mental wellbeing. Date and Time Thu, February 11, 2021 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM PST At this workshop, Ali will explore how our mental health is being impacted during these challenging times, and will introduce various clinical tools to support ourselves and our children. He will also focus on how to best provide a supportive environment for our children. **This is a donation-based event and everyone is welcome. You may attend for free, or provide a donation that will help cover the costs of the speaker.** Here is a list of the PAC meetings for the rest of the school year. Typically, the meetings will be on the 3rd Tuesday of the month, and they will be held virtually on Microsoft Teams. The meetings are open to all A.R. Lord parents to attend. Should you have an item that you would like to discuss during the next meeting, please email info@arlordpac.ca a couple days beforehand. All meetings will start at 6pm.

![]() The Executive team of the A.R. Lord Elementary Parent Advisory Council was formed at the Annual General Meeting on October 27th. The newly elected members are: Sara Hoffman - Treasurer Greg Roy - Secretary Mike Louie - Communications Briar Cook - Member at Large Amarjit Parhar - Member at Large Jordon Randall - Member at Large Emily Taylor - Member at Large The duties of Chair will be a shared/rotating position Thanks to this great team of parent volunteers who have stepped up to continue to make our school a special place. The Exec is the team that helps set the priorities and oversee the organization, but a reminder that all parent/caregivers with a child attending A.R. Lord are also a part of the PAC. It takes active participation (even if virtual) by our diverse families group to build our school community, support our students, teacher and staff to and enhance the education experience. This can take many forms and can be as much or as little time as you can give. Some examples are:

![]() Wednesday September 30th 2020 is designated as Orange Shirt Day. This event is to create awareness of the impacts of residential schools on First Nations individuals, families, and communities. Send your child in an orange shirt to promote "Every Child Matters". It is an opportunity for all Canadians to learn about our painful history and begin to create steps towards reconciliation. All Parent/Caregivers with a child attending A.R. Lord Elementary are part of the Parent Advisory Council. Our mandate is to enrich the educational experience for A.R. Lord Students and support our school community, teachers and staff. Additional details can be found in the AR Lord PAC constitution: www.arlordpac.ca/constitution.html This year all positions for the Executive Officers are open as the current team will be retiring. we encourage you to put your name forth as a nominee to form part of the 2020-2021 Executive Officers and Planning committee which will consist of at minimum 3 positions covering duties of Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, Communications, Member-at-Large.
