Why Orange Shirt Day

​Send your child to school in an orange shirt (any orange shirt will do) on Monday September 30th and show your support.

​On September 30th, Dr. A.R. Lord Elementary will be acknowledging Orange Shirt Day. It is the day when we honour the Indigenous children who were sent away to residential schools in Canada. Students will learn more about the history of those schools and this day is a symbolic call to action to Truth and Reconciliation. Engage with your child and discuss your thoughts and what Orange Shirt day means to you, what it means to our indigenous communities, and to Canada.
